Wondering about the 220Hz issue with the cabs. I have had a set of loose 416A's and 511/802D's that I have dragged around with me for about 20 yrs. I finally decided to go about building a set of 825/828 cabinets to make use of their superb design. The 416's need to be reconed as I did use them in a home stereo arrangement in my young and single days. They ended up damaged... I'll be building my own active crossover and solid state amps as well.
Might just start a new thread to document my own "Journey". That way I can contribute and get some help as I go along...
Don't recall much about this thread, but all speakers have eigenmodes between any major impedance mismatch, so with 220 Hz = ~30-31", this lines up with the woofer, though if correctly measured based on its polar response it's around 250 Hz in reality: http://redspade-audio.blogspot.com/2013/07/altec-a7-voice-of-theatre-horns-measured.html
